Guides Associate Database Administrator in installing/upgrading of Database Server when needed
Assists Team Manager in liaising with management for issues and concerns that are critical for Database Operations
Monitors and documents success/failure of Database backups for future planning requirements
Monitors and documents success/failure of scheduled Database jobs and escalates problems to Team Manager when needed
Responsible for providing solutions to Database related problems At the soonest possible time by providing assistance to other staff and users. escalates to Team Manager when needed
Responsible for providing adhoc user requests such as Data extraction and report generation, in line with the proper Database requests forms
Assists in liaising with Database users in giving Database consultation based on business requirements and user’s needs.
Responsible for Monitoring and maintaining security of databases and Database software on corporate, application, Database, role, program, and when applicable, table, view and column levels in cooperation with security experts and Systems programmer
Responsible for performance tuning and corrective maintenance to assure that Database are performing efficiently and as expected.
Responsible for implementing disk space management to use as input for capacity planning requirements.
Responsible for creating primary Database storage structures (tablespaces) after application developers have designed an application
Responsible for modifying the Database storage structures and parameters, as necessary, from information given by application developers, and vendor consultants
Responsible for keeping up to date with latest product patches in order to ensure Data integrity and security effectiveness.
Qualifications
Extensive experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and their administration in large-scale environments.
Proficiency in monitoring, documenting, and managing database backups, ensuring data integrity and availability for future planning requirements.
Expertise in diagnosing and resolving performance issues, including query optimization, indexing, and resource allocation for efficient database operations.
Strong knowledge of database security practices, including role-based access control, encryption, and adherence to compliance standards in cooperation with security teams.
Skilled in implementing and managing disk space usage, with input for capacity planning to meet organizational growth
Experience in creating, modifying, and optimizing database storage structures (e.g., tablespaces) to support application requirements.
Familiarity with keeping database systems updated with the latest patches to maintain data integrity and security
Proven ability to address database-related issues promptly, assist staff and users, and escalate critical issues as needed.
Competence in fulfilling ad-hoc user requests for data extraction and report generation using appropriate database query tools and scripting
Experience in liaising with business units to understand database requirements and provide consultation based on operational needs.
Ability to monitor the success and failure of scheduled database jobs, with prompt escalation and resolution of issues.
Knowledge of banking industry regulations and best practices for database management, ensuring high standards of security and efficiency.
